GESZVAIN LAB
August 2021 - Current
Project: The Effects of Two-Component Regulatory Pathway Genes on Manganese Oxidation in Pseudomonas putida GB-1

Conjugation in P. putida GB-1. Currently investigating sensor kinases and response regulators genes associated with manganese oxidation.
TRAN LAB
January 2019Â - December 2020
Project: The Function of FOXO Gene In Immune System of Sea Anemones (Exaiptasia pallida)

FoxO gene is associated with allowing foreign microorganisms through the gastrovascular cavity. This study was trying to find if there was expression of FoxO gene at the gastrovascular cavity by using In Situ Hybridization to stain FoxO genes.

Project: The Effects of Symbiosis on Phototropism in Sea Anemones (E. pallida)

Sea Anemones have algal symbionts that help in survival. This study was about if sea anemones orient themselves when exposed to a light source. This showed the importance of symbiosis when sea anemones change orientation to capture more light to allow the algal symbionts to perform photosynthesis.
GORMAN LAB
June 2019 - August 2019
Project: Genetics of Scoliosis

This study was about validating candidate genes associated with scoliosis. There was medaka fish (Oryzias latipes) that had induced spine curvatures from previous research and PCR and gene sequence was used to validate that those genes was actually deleted or induced. There was also fish without spine curvatures that was also sequenced to serve as a control.
BANET LAB
May 2018 - August 2018
Project: Different Incubation Temperatures of Juvenile Chinook Salmon (Oncorhynchue tshawytscha) and Their Oxygen Consumption

Climate Change is increasing global temperatures, and this study looked at juvenile salmons incubated at different water temperatures and how that was going to affect their oxygen consumption. The results showed that there wasn't significant difference in oxygen consumption and different incubation temperatures.

Additional project with Pacific States Fisheries: Snorkeled in Sacramento side channels, Swift water training, Fish habitat mapping.
IVEY LAB
January 2018 - May 2018
Project: Different Population of Oak Tree and the Date When They Blossom

Recorded data on tree leaf formation from different species of oak trees. This data showed different times when the species started growing leaves after winter.
